De Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten (VNG) is dé belangenorganisatie en het kennisplatform voor alle Nederlandse gemeenten. Het doel van de VNG is om de krachten van gemeenten te bundelen en gezamenlijk op te treden in het belang van de lokale overheid en haar inwoners. Dit doen wij door invloed uit te oefenen op landelijk niveau en de maatschappelijke opgaven centraal te stellen. Samen zorgen wij voor een sterke en toekomstbestendige lokale overheid.
De belangrijkste taken van de VNG zijn het faciliteren en uitvoeren van kennisdeling, belangenbehartiging en dienstverlening. Deze drie pijlers vormen het fundament van onze vereniging. Met deze pijlers in de basis staat de VNG klaar om gemeenten te ondersteunen en versterken.
