Tokenizer, one of the innovations that received funding in the first round of the HSD Development Fund, was recently brought on the market. The launch took place on 29 October at the Infosecurity event in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. 4-6 November Tokenizer showed its product to the rest of the world on the Web Summit in Dublin attended by 20.000 visitors from all over the world.

Tokenizer is a cloud-based two-factor authentication solution: two-factor authentication is based on the principle that a user knows something (a username and password) and has something (a device). Tokenizer adds a second layer of security to your accounts using your phone as a token: now even when attackers know your credentials they can not get access to your account without your verification on your mobile. Tokenizer is located on the HSD Campus and aims to hire 25 new staff members before the end of 2015 to facilitate the national and international expansion.

The HSD Development Fund was established in July 2013 and aims to support organisations to get through the phase between basic research and the development of a concept model, also known as ‘the Valley of Death’. The launch of Tokenizer is a great success for the HSD Development Fund and is an inspiration for the innovations in the second round of the fund, for which seventeen innovations were submitted (application deadline has passed). On 18 December, during the HSD Café on EU calls for Security Innovations,  the list of innovations that will receive funding will be announced by Ingrid van Engelshoven, Deputy Mayor of The Hague.
