There has been positive news for the education of young talent in the field of information security: educational ‘Security in networks and systems'  programme will be developed for MBO-4 level.

PvIB and QIS (see below), together with teachers from six ROCs and the PPP Cyber Security Centre MRA, developed two choice programmes that are based on the PvIB-profile ICT Security Specialist (see www.pvib.nl). The choice programmes of 240 hours are linked to the official MBO Qualification Dossier ICT and Media Management. In February / March the choice programmes will be established by the minister. The choice programmes can be downloaded from the website www.kwalificatiesmbo.nl.

QIS is a consortium of public and private parties that pursue the qualification of professionals in the field of information security. This qualification is recognised by the 28 EU Member States due to the use of e-CF in the professional profiles. The e-CF is the European e-Competence Framework which is the standard for describing competencies in the ICT sector.

Starting 1 August 2016, all ROCs in the Netherlands will be offering an education programme based on two ICT security choice programmes. Several ROCs already started with this education process. PvIB will play an active role in getting current professionals involved with the programme.
