Boosting the Cyber Security of European Power Grids
The increasing digitization of power grids has significantly enhanced sustainability but also heightened vulnerability to cyber threats. To combat this challenge, the European Network for Cyber Security (ENCS) and TU Delft's Control Room of the Future (CRoF) have strengthened their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on June 12, 2024.
This new agreement builds upon a longstanding partnership, leveraging the expertise of both organizations to advance knowledge and counteract cyber threats in the international power grid security landscape. The collaboration will focus on research into future security technologies, operator training in cybersecurity practices, and standardization efforts for grid operators.
Central to this partnership is the CRoF Technology Centre at TU Delft, a pioneering facility dedicated to the research, development, and demonstration of future power grid technologies. The CRoF aims to ensure the cybersecurity and resilience of power grids against cyber threats. A key feature of the CRoF is its Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS), which allows the creation of a Digital Twin of the power grid for realistic and safe testing of real-life scenarios.
