Security Delta (HSD) Reminisces and Looks Forward During 10th Anniversary

The Dutch security cluster Security Delta (HSD) celebrated its 10th anniversary today. The security cluster was treated to knowledge during an anniversary event at the HSD Campus, where knowledge sharing and making acquaintances took center stage. The cluster also reflected on the past, and looked ahead to the future. Deputy mayor Saskia Bruines received the 10-year anniversary book from the hands of Joris den Bruinen, HSD director.

The event was also an opportunity for some important announcements about new developments. Like the presentation of the national Human Capital Agenda Security 2023-2026, created by HSD in collaboration with the Centre for Security and Digitalisation (CVD) and with broad involvement from some 70 parties from all over the Netherlands. The signing of the collaboration between HSD and the Apeldoorn-based CVD to organise implementation power. Afterwards a keynote on trends and the role of disruptive technologies in the security domain was given by techwatcher Remy Gieling. 

"In our digitised world, economy and security are inextricably linked," said HSD director Joris den Bruinen. "To make the most of opportunities and mitigate risks, governments, knowledge institutions and companies will need to work together at local, regional, national and international levels. With pride and gratitude, HSD has been playing a significant role for 10 years now. With and through our partners, programmes have been implemented, lessons learned and successes achieved, which are reflected in the anniversary book. In the coming years the Netherlands will have to continue investing and moving on from 'talking' to 'doing'. Digital security, scaled-up innovations and economic returns with jobs into the future will only come about if we organise implementation power together."

As one of the initiators of HSD, deputy mayor Bruines of the municipality of The Hague was presented with the 10-year anniversary book. Bruines: "Security of our digitising society is a big and growing issue, for the municipality of The Hague as well. In the past ten years, the national security cluster HSD has laid a strong foundation with the campus in The Hague as a meeting place. Parties know how to find each other better and better, new jobs and companies have been created and grown, such as The Hague-based Cybersprint and EYE Security. And what is very important: a lot of talent has been attracted, which is in great demand at the moment. This will only increase in the future."

During the event, attendees shared their experiences with HSD and attendees were able to talk to each other and make new contacts during a networking and matchmaking programme.
