The SRIE2016 website is live and the registration is open. Do you want to experience the latest security innovations? SRIE2016 is the event where industry, governments and knowledge institutions come together to discuss the latest security challenges for Europe. Main topics are: terrorism, border management, cybercrime , financial investigation, forensics and space & security. SRIE2016 gives you access to knowledge, market and innovation as well as the opportunity to meet some of the key players and potential business partners. The SRIE attracts visitors from all over Europe and will be opened by the Dutch Minister of Security & Justice Ard van der Steur. The aim of the SRIE 2016 is to demonstrate the strength and inspiring results of innovation, technology development and triple helix cooperation in the security field.
Security Research & Innovation Event 2016
SRIE2016 is powered by the Dutch security cluster ‘The Hague Security Delta’ and will take place on June 1-2 at the World Forum in The Hague. The SRIE programme includes: The Security Research Event (conference) organised by the European Commission, thematic workshops, an innovation room and matchmaking.
The topics of SRIE2016 are:
- Integrated Border Management. The European Commission adopted an important set of measures that will help to manage migration more effectively, improve the internal security in the EU and safeguard the principle of free movement of persons. This brings opportunities for new technologies on for example the use of unmanned systems and sensors for border protection to ensure strong and shared management of external borders.
- Terrorism and Radicalisation. Recently, Europe was again reminded that terrorism is a threat that does not recognise borders and may affect states and people irrespective of their geographical location. Research and innovation on radicalisation and terrorism lead to new insights and technologies for strengthening European resilience against these threats.
- Cybercrime and Law Enforcement Technologie. Cybercrime and law enforcement technologies are part of the priorities of the European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats (EMPACT). EMPACT aims towards the development of operational action plans on countering criminality. ENLETS organised preparatory workshops to find the main opportunities. Important topics for which new technologies within law enforcement are needed are the facilitation of illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings, counterfeit goods, drug trafficking, illicit firearms trafficking and of course cybercrime.
- Financial Investigations and Fraud. Financial investigations and fraud detection are geared towards the strengthening of European cooperation in the field of financial crime. The focus lies on new technologies and methods on subjects like money laundering, criminal asset recovery (follow the money, follow the value) and seizing property.
- Space and Security. Satellite observation is growing rapidly as a sector and the use of satellite data for security is coming up strongly. There are great opportunities to connect space and security that will show what space can do for practitioners in the field of for example law enforcement, disaster management, border protection and search and rescue. In the same week the European Space Solutions will also take place at the World Forum in The Hague.
- Forensics. Technical innovation is crucial in the field of forensics. Great legal and public interests are served with forensic analysis and fault tolerance is low. Many technologies, such as DNA research, have their origins in another sector. Other technologies may also be suitable for forensic research, provided the development can be made profitable.
