NATO Partners with HSD to Set Up Cyber Security Community
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) recently became a member of HSD. By partnering with HSD, NATO aims to pursue different types of collaborative activities with HSD partners, using radically new and disruptive cyber security technologies, with the objective of anticipating emerging threats to NATO communication and information systems and NATO future operations. HSD will start building an ecosystem around NATO’s cyber security needs soon, called NATO Collaborative Cyber Security Community. The objectives of the community are to address NATO’s cyber security needs in future operations and to foster radically new ideas for improving cyber security posture of NATO and its member nations, which will bring great opportunities for HSD partners involved in the cyber domain.
Kick-off event Cyber Security Community
A kick off event will be organised on 12 February 2015. During this meeting, a scenario-based approach related to possible cyber conflict resulting in invoking the Article 5 will be used in order to identify the areas requiring strengthening of the NATO cyber defence capability. Consequently, follow-up sessions will be organised to give industry and academia a chance to learn more about specific NATO Cyber Security needs and interest areas. These follow up sessions will also provide an opportunity for the interested parties to get involved into a multilateral collaboration and are only open for official partners.
The kick-off meeting and the follow up workshops will be facilitated by the subject matter experts from the NCI Agency Cyber Security Capability Design. The capability design group leads the development of new capabilities and innovation in cyber security for NATO. The CSCD is a part or the Cyber Security Service Line, which incorporates the NCIRC Technical Centre, providing specialist services to prevent, detect, respond to and recover from cyber security incidents.
These events are invitation only. The invitations for the kick-off meeting will be sent out in January.
