Looking Back at SecurIT Final Event in Paris

The SecurIT Final Event took place on 21 May in Paris. SecurIT is a European project aiming at supporting and co-financing the development of collaborative projects allowing prototyping and experimentation of technological solutions in the field of security, with respect of ethics, legal, and social challenges.

During this day the conclusion of the project was celebrated, as well as the three years of cluster collaboration it enabled.  It gave 95 SMEs from 23 different countries across Europe the opportunity to develop security solutions for safer and resilient cities and territories.

The day’s programme kicked off with opening remarks by Marek Przeor (European Commission), followed by a complete overview of the SecurIT project by Adeline Gleizal. She highlighted several of the achievements of the funded projects and the success stories.

EU funding opportunities and collaboration were explored with inspiring keynotes from Virginie Perron (European Innovation Council), Giannis Skiadaresis (DG HOME), and Noel Marciniak (ANSSI). Also explored was the CYSSME project as an example of post-SecurIT collaboration with a closing keynote by Ulrich Seldeslachts (LSEC – Leader in Security).

A panel took place on how to bridge the gap between SME security solutions and end-user needs. The panel consisted of Sylvain Chapon (ENGIE), Thierry Nagellen (Orange), Luigi REBUFFI (ECSO), Eva Škruba (EACTDA), Joris den Bruinen (Security Delta (HSD), and was moderated by Chris Singer (Resilience Advisors Network).

Joris den Bruinen: "Think big but act small. Cascade funding is a way to remove administrative constraints and projects like SecurIT are a good way to let SMEs access EU funding and Support schemes."

Most of the 42 SecurIT-funded collaborative projects were present and were able to showcase their solutions on dedicated booths. 6 of them have received a special award for their promising innovative solutions:
