The European Investment Fund (EIF) has announced a €20 million investment in TIN Capital’s European Cyber Tech Fund V, reinforcing the fund’s role as a key driver of growth for European cybersecurity scale-ups. This investment, supported under the European Commission’s InvestEU programme, brings the fund’s total closing to over €80 million.

In addition to the EIF’s cornerstone investment, Invest-NL has renewed its participation, joined by several regional investment funds, family offices, and private investors including prominent entrepreneurs from Europe’s cybersecurity sector.

This milestone underlines a shared commitment to strengthening Europe’s digital resilience. As new EU regulations such as NIS2, the Cybersecurity Act (CSA), and DORA come into force, initiatives like TIN Capital’s fund play a vital role in preparing European companies to meet emerging security demands.

“Cybersecurity is no longer a luxury; it is an absolute necessity for Europe’s economic and societal stability,” said Michael Lucassen, Managing Partner at TIN Capital. “Together with the EIF and our other investors, we are building European champions capable of competing with the world’s leading players.”

Since its first closing, European Cyber Tech Fund V has made several strategic investments that strengthen Europe’s digital ecosystem. These include companies enhancing the cybersecurity of software supply chains, cloud infrastructure, and data privacy, as well as innovations using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the efficiency and scalability of cybersecurity solutions.

“This investment is about securing Europe’s future in a rapidly changing digital world,” added Robert de Groot, EIB Group Vice-President. “Through the EIF’s investment in TIN Capital’s Cybersecurity Fund, we help strengthen Europe’s resilience and ability to protect critical digital infrastructure and systems.”

“By supporting TIN Capital’s Cybersecurity Fund via InvestEU, we take another step in ensuring that Europe remains an attractive place for businesses to settle and thrive,” said Cecilia Thorfinn, Acting Head of Representation of the European Commission in the Netherlands.

The partnership between TIN Capital, EIF, and Invest-NL contributes directly to Europe’s strategic ambition for a safer, more autonomous, and resilient digital future an ambition strongly aligned with HSD’s mission to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth within the security domain.
