HSD Café: ‘The Do’s and Don’ts of Doing Business with Government’

As the security challenges for our society are rapidly becoming more complex, the government is increasingly becoming depended on private actors. The Hague Security Delta has made it its mission to connect the public and private sector, stimulating intensified cooperation between the two. Nevertheless, doing business with government organisations can be very daunting for especially SMEs. Despite these difficulties, it is obvious that doing business with government organisations provides innovative private parties with great growth opportunities.

So what are the do’s and don’ts when it comes to doing business with government institutions? How does government procurement work? Who are the right people to talk to? And what are the things to avoid?      

The HSD Café is set up as follows

From 16:00 until 16:30, the following experts will share their insights on the matter:

• Huub Smulders (ERAC) will discuss the do’s and don’ts when it comes to doing business with government organisations;

• Jan Otten (DITSS) will elaborate on how the private sector can contribute to solving questions of the government regarding safety- and security.

   

At 16:30, the brief presentations will be followed by a discussion, in which the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their views.

From 17:00 onwards, the bar is open for drinks and there will be ample opportunity to network.

The HSD Cafés are organized for HSD partners on every first and third Thursday of each month (except on public holidays). From cyber to critical infrastructure, 20 sessions will be organised around security topics relevant for companies, the government, and knowledge organizations. In the first hour (16.00-17.00) of each HSD Café, an expert will briefly present a security topic, dilemma, or innovation, followed by an informal discussion. The second part of the HSD Café (17.00-17.45) will consist of drinks and a possibility to network.
