Towards Cyber Resilient Entrepreneurship with SME DigiCafés
Entrepreneurs need to move with the trends and developments to be ready for the future. Digitalisation is one of the steps. To help tackle this MRDH helps out entrepreneurs taking steps towards digital entrepreneurship. The implementation of this project is being carried out by IT Campus Rotterdam in collaboration with HSD, the Dutch Innovation Factory and the digital workplaces in the Rijnmond and Haaglanden regions.
Raising awareness
Every first Tuesday of the month an online SME DigiCafé is held where entrepreneurs in retail, business and other services, (manufacturing) industry and transport & logistics sectors are informed and inspired about different subjects relevant to their business. In the case of HSD Office, entrepreneurs are informed and inspired about secure digital solutions for the challenges they face. It’s not only about doing business, but also being aware how to protect your business digitally.
By collaborating in this project HSD Office takes care of raising awareness of the risks accompanied by insuffient secured IT-systems and to push cybersecurity top of mind with SMEs, so that they can be more cyber resilient. The first SME Digicafé executed by HSD was in June this year. The next upcoming event by HSD will be on Tuesday 5 October 2021. The topic of this event is "Cyberweerbaar vs. Cybercriminaliteit". Job Kuijpers from EYE Security will speak and give tips how to protect your business digitally.
Digital workplace
In total 15 online meetings are organised by the different organisations and are available for the entire Rotterdam - The Hague region and provide a direct link to digital workplaces. A digital workplace is a physical and virtual place where students work together on digital issues of SME-entrepreneurs in the region. There are two workshops in the metropolitan region of Rotterdam The Hague: MKB DigiWerkplaats Rijnmond (under construction) and MKB Digiwerkplaats Haaglanden region. In this way, entrepreneurs can directly ask their questions at the digital workplaces. The workplaces support SME-entrepreneurs with 2 to 49 jobs in digitization. Digitization offers new opportunities for entrepreneurs where doing business online is unavoidable: business processes can be organized more efficiently, bring new opportunities, but also threats.
The SME DigiCafés is a regional initiative supported by MKB Rotterdam Rijnmond, Netwerk Zoetermeer, The municipalities Zoetermeer, The Hague, Schiedam, Delft, Rabobank, VNO-NCW Rotterdam Rijnmond and VNO-NCW The Hague.
