FLINCK, Energie Samen Gelderland, Energy Innovation NL and Security Delta (HSD) are working together to help energy communities become not only digitally capable, but also resilient to the cyber threats of today and tomorrow.

A key focus of this collaboration is digital security within the energy system. On October 22, a session on Module 4 (Cyber Resilience) took place in Zutphen as part of Learning Pathway 1 (Making Energy Communities Digitally Secure and Data-Driven). The session explored a range of topics, including cyber threats, the responsibilities of energy communities, and the security of wind and solar farms.

Participants also discussed how to protect platforms, energy management systems (EMS) and interfaces, how to respond to cyber incidents, and how to safeguard data and privacy.

Energy Communities

An energy community is a local partnership of citizens, businesses and/or public authorities who work together to generate, store, share or sell renewable energy. Digital systems and data are essential for balancing energy supply and demand, reducing peak loads on the electricity grid and making effective use of flexibility. Digital security is therefore vital to ensuring a reliable and future-proof energy system.

Through Learning Pathway 1, Making Energy Communities Digitally Secure and Data-Driven, energy cooperatives explore what it takes to operate securely and make effective use of data. The pathway consists of four modules, combining expert knowledge with practical experience. Participants are equipped to take concrete steps towards improving their use of data, digital management systems and cybersecurity.
