Spanish-Dutch Collaboration: Dutch Ambassador to Spain Visits S2 Grupo
On October 25, 2024, S2 Grupo, the Spanish cybersecurity and cyber intelligence firm, welcomed Dutch Ambassador Roel Nieuwenkamp, to its headquarters in Spain. The aim of this visit was to show its commitment to expanding its presence in the Netherlands as part of its internationalisation strategy for Western and Northern Europe.
Since establishing its presence in the Netherlands in 2022, S2 Grupo worked on delivering cybersecurity projects with a focus on critical infrastructure across key sectors such as, water, energy, logistics, transportation, and healthcare. They furthermore have been collaborating closely with the Netherlands' National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), positioning the Netherlands as a central hub for S2 Grupo’s European operations.
The visit by Ambassador Nieuwenkamp is a follow up on the Netherlands Business Summit held in April, which brought together King Felipe VI of Spain and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands to support partnerships between the two countries. During the summit in April, there were many opportunities to be found in terms of collaboration on cybersecurity between Spain and The Netherlands.
During the visit to S2 Grupo's headquarters, Nieuwenkamp learned more about the projects of S2 Grupo and their aim to expend their collaborative efforts among companies and agencies in Europe. S2 Grupo’s European expansion aims to promote technological independence and digital sovereignty, recognising the growing reality and impact of cyber espionage and cyber warfare.
The visit by Dutch Ambassador Roel Nieuwenkamp showed the commitment to collaboration shared between the two countries. Nieuwenkamp’s visit furthermore reflects a shared commitment to strengthening this partnership. By collaborating, new innovations might be developed to improve cybersecurity across borders.
