Online Expert Roundtable Crisis Management
On 7 October, HSD Office organised an online expert round table on crisis management with experts from the security cluster. The session was a kick off for further programming with the goal to jointly come up with innovative solutions with regards to this crucial theme. Crisis management is essential for companies and organisations to limit damage, to bounce back as quickly as possible after incidents, and to contain security challenges. The world of crises and security challenges is ever evolving, each day new types of threats appear.
Participants from government, academia, and business were Crisisplan, Deloitte, City of The Hague, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Cybexer, Scenarios4Summits, NIXU, Booz Allen Hamilton, De Nederlandsche Bank, Philips and the National Cyber Security Centre. The experts agreed: crisis awareness is not self-evident in people or organisations. Impact determination and the filtering of information during a crisis remains a human action. This makes it important to more often make use of shorter simulations and training scenario’s, as crisis management is something that is learned through practice. Another current struggle within crisis management is information management: what information is relevant for what type of crisis? How do we filter and share information during crises?
Follow-up meetings will be planned soon to discuss these matters in further detail and to look into further programming.
