October is European Cyber Security Month
The European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) started on 1 October 2014. The ECSM is a European Union advocacy campaign aiming to promote cyber security among citizens, to change their perception of cyber-threats and provide up to date security information, through education and sharing good practices.
As part of this campaign, the Alert Online Campaign will be organized in the Netherlands from 27 October to 6 November 2014. Minister Opstelten of Security and Justice will perform the kick off of Alert Online. This year, the kick-off is hosted by HSD partners the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek or NWO), SURFnet and Kennisnet. This third edition of the campaign runs until 6 November 2014 and is organised by the National Coordinator for Counter-terrorism and Security (Nationaal Coördinator Terrorismebestrijding en Veiligheid or NCTV).
TNO and HSD also organize an Alert Online event: Cyber Halloween. This will take place during Halloween, 31 October, and will include a mini cyber symposium, with keynotes, demonstrations and a Cyber Escape Room gaming experience on the HSD Campus. Keynote speakers will be Wilma van Dijk, Deputy National Coordinator Security and Counterterrorism, and Prof.dr.ir. Jan van den Berg, Full Professor Cyber Security Faculties at Delft University of Technology and Scientific Director of the Cyber Security Academy in The Hague. Furthermore, you can attend a selection of workshops. The mini symposium will end around 15.00, with networking drinks and a Cyber Escape Room Award.
