Joris den Bruinen, general director of Security Delta (HSD), was interviewed on the Security Innovation Stories podcast about strengthening the Netherlands’ cyber resilience. He stresses that technology alone isn’t enough—structural collaboration between government, businesses, and knowledge institutions is essential. “You need all those professionals if you really want to raise the country’s level of cyber resilience,” he says.

HSD is a strategic partner of Cybersec, the annual cybersecurity trade fair, for the second year running. But for Joris, the focus isn’t the trade show floor—it’s creating meaningful connections. “We want a strong programme where the community meets, gets inspired, and leaves thinking: this is a moment I don’t want to miss.”

A key theme is OT security, which protects the operational technology behind critical infrastructure such as energy plants and water management. “OT is often overlooked, yet it carries huge risks,” Joris warns. This year’s Cybersec features dedicated OT tracks and even an OT Dome for expert discussions.

Joris also highlights the importance of secure-by-design technology. With the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act, Dutch innovations in sectors like water, energy, and horticulture can be piloted locally and exported internationally. “That’s how we innovate smartly and create economic value safely.”
