From a devise that measures blood sugar levels without finger pricking, to a radiofrequency drone detection technology and a platform that delivers information about mobility behavior through smartphone sensors – the 25 finalists nominated for the EIT Digital Challenge cover a wide variety of topics within the deep tech field. And they have a goal in common: to foster Europe's path to digital transformation for the benefit of Europe's citizens and economy.

The EIT Digital Challenge takes place for the sixth consecutive year and focuses on ‘deep tech’ scaleups with a differentiating product offering that leverages sophisticated, hard-to-reproduce digital technologies that fuel the digital transformation. The promising finalists were chosen out of 279 applicants and come from 12 different European countries. On average, they reached a revenue of €930k in 2018, have received €3.9M funding and employ 32 people. For the first time, also companies from Iceland, Israel and Switzerland reach the final. HSD Partner ReaQta is one of the finalists.

The winners will be chosen in a final event in Brussels on November 6, where they will pitch in front of expert juries and compete for prizes worth €750,000. The prize package includes a full year support by the EIT Digital Accelerator for the two best companies in each category, which will help the scaleups growing their businesses in Europe and beyond. The first prize winners of each category will receive an additional cash prize of €50,000.
