Joris den Bruinen in Security Innovation Stories: "Foreign Acquisitions are Not the Problem"

A common criticism: Dutch cybersecurity companies are too easily sold to foreign parties. Joris den Bruinen, managing director of Security Delta (HSD) spoke about this topic with Security Innovation Stories. It became a conversation about the importance of capital, too small a home market and why foreign takeovers are sometimes actually good for Dutch innovative strength.

 

The perception that Dutch IT security companies are being bought away en masse by foreign parties is in need of adjustment. Joris shows that there is a lively market where both Dutch and foreign takeovers take place, with companies from the Netherlands itself as the biggest buyer - even ahead of the next group consisting of France, the United States (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK). "Over the past 12 years, I have kept track of all acquisitions in the Netherlands in the field of digital security. The biggest investors and acquirers are companies from the Netherlands itself," he states.
