Introducing New HSD Premium Partner: Brooklyn Partners
Brooklyn Partners recently became a premium partner of Security Delta (HSD). This company, founded eight years ago, has a focus on cybersecurity awareness with a research-based and interactive approach to building cyber resilience across organisations. Their mission? Making organisations 100% Cyber Aware — the Seriously Fun way, by looking beyond only the technical defenses that are often the sole focus.
From Breukelen to Cyber Awareness
The organisation was founded by two entrepeneurs who were studying in Breukelen, which is where the name Brooklyn Partners stems from. Their goal was to make cybersecurity awareness engaging, practical, and rooted in science.
The first product they launched was the Social Hack training which is based on academic research and supported through real-world feedback. ABN AMRO was amongst the first launching customers, and the impact was immediate through employees who were immediately bringing their new social engineering skills into practice, proving how effective the training was.
Soon after the company introduced the Cyber Escape Room, in which four municipalities joined as early adopters. Aimed at employees in a specific segment, this online games challenges participants with basic hygiene in information security and privacy security, such as phishing, password management, working remotely, privacy first, and data storing.
These solutions are still at the heart and core focus of Brooklyn Partners’ portfolio today. In order to bring forth interactive learning with behavioural insights to make cybersecurity awareness both seriously fun and strategically important.
Connecting Through HSD
Brooklyn Partners has always been a advocate for collaboration. Therefore, the partnership with HSD is a strategic step to strengthen collaboration with the Dutch cybersecurity community. With a focus on developing context-driven interventions to enhance awareness and reduce cyber risks, the collabourations aids in the following: knowledge sharing, security strategy improvement and relationships within the securitysector.
Through this partnership, Brooklyn Partners has already taken concrete steps to share knowledge with the security cluster. Examples include a recent knowledge session in collaboration with the Cyber Resilience Centre Greenport to help bring horticulturists up to speed, and a Lunch & Talk where Evert van Essen spoke to the HSD Community about enhancing cyber resilience by fostering secure employee behaviour.
Looking Ahead: AI & Board-Level Awareness
The organisation perceives three challenges in the present security environment:
- Creating board-level ambassadors for cybersecurity
- Avoiding over-reliance on technology while neglecting the human factor
- Navigating the rapid developments around AI
Brooklyn Partners is planning to introduce two new training programs to support businesses in adressing these challenges. The first challenge mainly focusses on employee safety and AI literacy, while the second challenge, focuses on supporting businesses in converting NIS2 regulation into board-level involvement and long-term behavioural change.
Brooklyn Partners enhances the HSD security cluster with a measurable and clear approach to cyber awareness, while bringing data-driven tools such as the Cyber Barometer which focuses on measuring employee behaviour within the organisation, as well as trend measurements. Their programme designs are strategic and context-driven, fostering an energetic learning philosophy which enhances participation and retention levels.
