Taiwanese Cybersecurity Delegation Visits KPN and Cyber Security Week in The Hague
From 2-5 October, a Taiwanese cybersecurity delegation attended the Cyber Security Week (CSW) in The Hague. They joined the CSW kick-off event with international delegations, visited the ONE Conference and Business Event, were present at the ECSO Cyber Investors Days and also visited KPN. The Taiwanese Ministry of Digital Affairs (MoDA) led the delegation as Taiwan’s ministry responsible for promoting the country’s overall digital policy innovation and reform.
Taiwan is a hotspot for malicious actors, recording an astonishing 15,000 cyberattacks per second. This is due to its role as a key link in the global supply chain, particularly Hi-Tech manufacturing. The visit aimed at enhancing the cyber resilience of Taiwan, particularly from a telecommunications perspective.
The delegation, comprised of research institute, think tank and cybersecurity companies, and was led by the Taiwanese Ministry of Digital Affairs of Taiwan (MoDA). The MoDA has been established in 2022 with the purpose of managing the digital security affairs of Taiwan.
The delegations’ visit, occurring in the context of this mission, aimed to understand the cybersecurity challenges from a telecommunication’s perspective and to attend programmes and activities including research topics, services and collaborations for enhancing cyber resilience.
Telecommunication is an important aspect of cybersecurity, and KPN, as a leader in the field could share its expertise on the topic with Taiwan and exchange perspectives on cybersecurity. They were welcomed by KPN’s CTO Erno Doorenspleet and Remco van Oostrom, product owner digital Dutch Xperience at KPN. MoDA explained the cybersecurity landscape and government initiatives in Taiwan in a presentation. This was followed by a presentation of KPN’s cybersecurity perspective. The visit concluded with interesting discussions which promise opportunity for future collaboration.
