International Collaboration in Cyber Security for Critical Infrastructures
The Control System Security Center (CSSC) of Japan and the European Network for Cyber Security (ENCS) signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration in cyber security for critical infrastructures. The MOU commits the two institutions to share knowledge and expertise related to cyber security for industrial control systems and critical infrastructures in Japan and Europe, collaborate on research and development projects, work together on testing activities, and jointly support workshops and training events.
Critical infrastructures are becoming steadily more reliant on ICT and are thus increasingly vulnerable to threats from technical failures, hacking, natural disasters, and manmade mistakes. There is a growing need for new cyber security solutions and methods to protect these networks against such threats. Through international cooperation and collaboration, improvements in ICT security increase the robustness and resilience of critical infrastructures from both a physical and cyber perspective.
