Cyber Exercise with Public and Private Partners
On June 22-25 the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism, together with 30 public and private partners, organised the operational cyber exercise ‘ISIDOOR’. During this exercise, several cyber incidents were simulated, including data leaks and vulnerabilities in systems. The government was tasked to cooperate with public and private parties to make decisions about the operational response to these incidents.
The goal of the exercise was to test a joint approach, cooperation, and coordination in a cyber crisis and was attended by 200 players. In addition to operational cyber security services, several departments, government agencies, and partners from the telecom, energy, and financial sector took part.
Exercises like ISIDOOR are of great importance to shape the Dutch response capacity for cyber incidents and crises. Public-private cooperation is important, as most of the IT infrastructures in the Netherlands are in the hands of private parties and the protection is a joint responsibility.
