HSD Lunch & Talk: Identity Fraud & The Human Factor: From victim to gatekeeper

Once a month we organise a Lunch & Talk at the HSD Campus. These are great opportunities to meet the experts that secure our digital society, all while enjoying a delicious lunch. To stimulate knowledge sharing, experts from the HSD Community will be holding short presentations!

The summer break is over, and that means it’s time for a new HSD Lunch & Talk! Join us on Monday 14 September for a new edition provided by Niels de Veij from Upfront Security on real cases of identity fraud and the key question: What if people themselves could become an active line of defense?

Today’s identity fraud often goes undetected until it is too late. This systemic lack of transparency and control creates significant risk for businesses and devastating consequences for individuals. We need to move from passive observation to active intervention.

In the upcoming session, “Identity Fraud & The Human Factor: From victim to gatekeeper”, Niels de Veij will dive into:

• Real-life fraud cases and lessons learned;
• Why current systems fail to give us control over our own data;
• How the “human factor” can transform cybersecurity;
• Insights from the Ministry of Justice & Defense Startup in Residence programme;
• What we’re already seeing in terms of fraud prevention and user impact;
• What the future could look like - from blocking documents to creating real-time data feedback loops
