In order to proactively address cyber threats to the nautical and logistical process in Dutch Seaports, Stichting Ferm, the Dutch Seaports Industry Association (BOZ), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W), and the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) are jointly developing an approach that will be outlined in the Cyber Strategy for Dutch Seaports. This has resulted in the creation of Ferm, a collaborative initiative for seaports of national importance that fully replaces the former FERM Rotterdam.
Ferm is committed to enhancing the cyber resilience and robustness of critical supply chains within the five seaports of national importance. These are Groningen Seaports, North Sea Port (Vlissingen, Ghent, and Terneuzen), Port of Rotterdam, Port of Moerdijk, and Port of Amsterdam. The seaports rely on the same critical services and/or processes, such as the safe handling of maritime traffic and the facilitation of essential transport flows. A critical supply chain includes all the organizations required to ensure these processes run safely in one or more seaports.
