FERM Zeehavens and Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity partner to strengthen the digital resilience of Dutch seaports
FERM Zeehavens and Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity have entered into a strategic collaboration to strengthen the digital resilience of Dutch seaports. Together, they aim to better protect critical port processes against the growing landscape of cyber threats.
Seaports form the beating heart of the Dutch economy and are highly dependent on digital systems for logistics, nautical operations, industrial automation, and supply chain integration. This advanced level of digitalisation introduces new risks, particularly at the intersection of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). Cyber incidents can have direct consequences for safety, continuity, and international trade flows.
While FERM Zeehavens focuses on collaboration, information sharing, and raising awareness within the maritime sector, Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity contributes in-depth (technical) expertise, international standards, and strong implementation capabilities. Together, they ensure that cybersecurity is not only addressed as a strategic issue but is also firmly embedded in day-to-day operations.
FERM Zeehavens is a public-private partnership dedicated to increasing the cyber resilience of seaports through knowledge sharing, cooperation, and joint initiatives.
“The threat to ports is real and growing. Only by working together can we keep our ports digitally resilient,” FERM Zeehavens states.
“Cybersecurity in ports requires an integrated approach encompassing people, processes, and technology. Through this collaboration, we help organisations take that step in practice,” says Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity.
With this partnership, FERM Zeehavens and Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity emphasise the importance of cyber-secure ports as a prerequisite for safety, reliability, and economic growth.
