Cybersec Netherlands 2026 Highlights the Importance of OT Security

Operational Technology (OT) will take centre stage at Cybersec Netherlands 2026, held on 9 and 10 September at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. With threats to industrial networks and critical infrastructure on the rise, OT is receiving special focus through a dedicated OT Dome, an OT Pavilion, and substantial involvement from Security Delta (HSD). The programme is shaped with the guidance of advisory board member Marcel Jutte, a recognised expert in OT security. Josephine van Luik (HSD Community Manager) will join Marcel Jutte as co-moderator for the session.

The sessions within the OT Dome are content-rich, largely non-commercial, and delivered in Dutch. They are aimed at professionals in sectors such as industry, manufacturing, energy, water management, and transport. The focus lies on practical applications, up-to-date legislation, and lessons learned from within the sector. The OT Dome is the go-to place for those seeking deeper insights into operational technology security.

Programme highlights

Day 1

The first day features a range of thought-provoking sessions. Stefan Barten from MODELEC will explore how asset intelligence, network visibility and monitoring can contribute to demonstrable risk reduction. Stefan Brands from the Municipality of The Hague will take attendees behind the scenes of the OT security preparations surrounding the NATO Summit.

Luc Croughs from Compumatica will examine what a data diode can actually enforce, and where the security guarantees of such a solution end. Meanwhile, Robin Goudappel from S2GRUPO will explain why incident response in OT is a completely different playing field when production, safety and physical processes are at stake.

Iris Kartasasmita from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC-NL) will also take to the stage. She will explore what IT security professionals need to unlearn, learn and, above all, take seriously when making the transition from IT to OT. Looking to make the move from IT to OT? Day 2

The second day will explore topics including responsibility, internet-connected OT and the resilience of our energy infrastructure. Mark Luchs from Pilz will examine where the responsibility of a machine manufacturer ends and that of the end user begins. What happens when a machine with known vulnerabilities is nevertheless essential to keeping production running?

Erwin Paternotte and Niels van Eijck from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC-NL) will take attendees on an internet safari through industrial systems that are unintentionally accessible online. How can these installations be identified at scale without placing vulnerable or safety-critical systems under additional strain during the investigation?

Finally, Godfried Boshuizen from Stedin will address a question that is becoming increasingly relevant in a digitalised and decentralised energy system: what happens when the lights go out? Which digital dependencies are we underestimating, and how can we prepare for a situation in which trusted systems are no longer available?
