Innovative Safety Solution for City of Eindhoven

The Dutch Institute of Safety and Security (DITSS), one of the three core regional hubs of the Dutch security cluster HSD, has been involved in a consortium providing the City of Eindhoven with an innovative solution to increase safety on the streets. Under de lead of ATOS in cooperation with Intel, the CityPulse pilot recently showed its first successes. By using big data intelligence, authorities are able to make informed decisions on what they need to do to keep the streets safe at night.

The pilot is aimed at helping the City of Eindhoven manage the Stratumseind street in the centre of town. This is the longest pub street in the Netherlands where each weekend more than 50 bars and nightclubs welcome up to 20,000 visitors. The anticipated benefits of CityPulse are:

• Safer nightlife and a more sociable environment for both visitors and citizens, which could result in attracting more visitors and enabling new business and entertainment opportunities for the City of Eindhoven
• Less need for emergency resources due to fewer incidents
• Lower repair and clean-up costs for the city and the pub owners
• Police resources can be used more efficiently and are only requested when data shows a significant need
