Cyber security has become an increasingly important topic within the security agenda. The Netherlands is not safe from cyber attacks that can disrupt critical infrastructures of the Dutch economy. In The Hague Security Delta, Cyber Security is seen as a topic to be explored to create new opportunities for businesses, create jobs and find innovative solutions.

Joris den Bruinen, Deputy-Director at The Hague Security Delta, confirmed the ambition of The City of The Hague to become the European capital for Cyber Security. Den Bruinen believes that such developments will create jobs in the region, which is already home to more than 10,000 jobs in the security sector. In an interview with De Unie, Den Bruinen mentioned that he expects that the number of businesses, students and jobs in the security sector will triple in the coming years, with the help of initiatives such as the Cyber Security Academy and the recent launch of the European Cybercrime Centre of Europol.
