In May, Centrum voor Veiligheid en Digitalisering (CVD) organised a number of global focus groups to discuss the growing lack of cybersecurity expertise in Europe. The sessions were organised by The CADMUS Project, a European effort that seeks to close the cybersecurity skills gap through focused education and training

Experts from the Netherlands, Croatia, Cyprus, and Greece took part in sessions about new trends, labour market demands, and strategic solutions. Ben Kokkeler and Sjoerd P. led the seminars, which aimed to assess recent training and labour market analyses carried out as part of the CADMUS project. More than 20 professionals from throughout the EU participated in the focus groups to determine which cybersecurity skills are still lacking and how to enhance current training programmes to better serve the needs of SMEs and the public sector.

The findings will inform both European policy recommendations and the development of practical training materials. In the Netherlands, the outcomes will be directly implemented by Security Delta (HSD) and CVD in the context of formal education and lifelong learning programmes.

This collaboration marks a vital step towards bridging Europe’s cybersecurity skills gap. By aligning training with real-world needs, the CADMUS Project is helping build a stronger, more secure digital future.

The CADMUS consortium is co-funded by the European Commission through the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
