NCSC Delegation Visits HSD to Explore Further Collaboration

On Tuesday 1 September, Security Delta (HSD) welcomed Matthijs van Amelsfort, General Director of the NCSC, and Eefje Zents, Director of Cooperation & Digital Resilience, of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to the HSD Campus in The Hague. The aim of the visit was to exchange views on collaboration, cyber resilience and the role of security ecosystems. We focused on how public-private cooperation can help translate shared security challenges into concrete initiatives for innovation, resilience and talent development.

Joris den Bruinen, Managing Director of HSD, briefly welcomed the delegation and provided deeper insight into the ecosystem, its key players and opportunities for further collaboration. The programme highlighted concrete initiatives that bring together businesses, government authorities, knowledge institutions and educational organisations.

Roundtable on collaboration and innovation

The central part of the visit was a roundtable discussion with representatives from across the HSD ecosystem. The conversation covered a broad range of topics, including a cyber-secure energy transition, sovereignty, Secure by Design, cyber resilience networks, the Human Capital Agenda, joint innovation and financing. They also discussed the added value of a House of Cyber.

Participants in the roundtable included Mark van Staalduinen (CFLW Cyber Strategie), Michael van der Vaart (ESET Netherlands), Christien Foekens (Ministry of Defence), Eric Veldkamp (Leiden University of Applied Sciences), Michiel van der Veen (TNO), Jurriën Norder (RVO/NCC-NL) and Bas Wevers (Royal FloraHolland). Together, they represented the close connection between government, industry, research and education within the HSD ecosystem.

The openness of the conversations and the willingness to explore shared challenges and opportunities made the afternoon especially worthwhile. No single organisation can address today’s rapidly evolving cyber threats alone.

 

By connecting government, industry, research and education, we strengthen cooperation, accelerate learning and build greater cyber resilience together. Also in light of the opportunities coming with the development of the House of Cyber, it is important to build on the strengths and connections already present within the ecosystem and explore how we can work together even more effectively.”

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for HSD and NCSC to exchange experiences, strengthen connections, and explore opportunities for further cooperation. It also underlined the importance of continued collaboration across the security ecosystem to address shared cybersecurity challenges and strengthen digital resilience.
