Safety & Security Mission to India - 12-17 October 2015
HSD and The Hague City Council are preparing a high level mission on safety & security to New Delhi and Hyderabad in India which will be led by Mayor Jozias van Aartsen. The decision to organise a mission to India is based on a previous mission in December 2011 and the outcome of a report, produced by the Netherlands Embassy in New Delhi and the Netherlands Forensic Institute, concluding that a collaboration in the area of safety & security could benefit both countries.
For the HSD cluster there are two main points of interest when it comes to further establishing and strengthening relations with India: firstly, HSD partners, especially in the field of cyber security, can benefit from the abundance of well-educated technicians and from the huge market potential for services and products. And secondly, for attracting Indian companies to join forces with HSD and the city of The Hague.
For The Hague the primary aim is to expand its reputation as the world's capital of Peace, Justice and Security, through close collaboration with the government of India and its states and, together with HSD, present itself as an attractive and globally well-connected and reputed location for companies and institutes in the field of peace, justice, and security.
The mission is scheduled for the week of October 12 and coincident with the India Conference on Cyber Security and Internet Governance in New Delhi. The visit will include a two day program in New Delhi and two days in Hyderabad which is one of the country’s fastest growing IT hubs and which has a vibrant ecosystem of businesses, innovation, and a new, investment friendly state government. Moreover the city has a reputation of being a centre of research and learning.
The focus of the mission will be on creating B2B opportunities, on collaboration in science and applied research, and on strengthening the political ties between The Hague and New Delhi and Hyderabad in the area of security & safety. More specifically the mission will aim to stimulate cooperation between The Hague region and India-based knowledge institutions. Most important, the mission aims to creating a Business to Business network between the partners of The Hague Security Delta and India companies, in cooperation with NASSCOM and/or the Data Security Council of India.
HSD and the Municipality of The Hague are currently filling in the details of the mission in close collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in New Delhi.
A first selection of businesses and institutions has received an invitation letter and will be contacted by HSD to discuss participation. Of course participation is also open for any other HSD partners interested in exploring opportunities in India in the area of safety & security.
