Author: HSD Foundation

The NWO Call KIC Mission Data and Intelligence contributes to the overarching objectives of the 2020-2023 Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Security (KIA Veiligheid) and the underlying Multi-year Mission driven Innovation Programmes (MMIPs). The call allows Interdisciplinary consortia of research institutes (including applied sciences) and public and private organisations to submit proposals with a total budget of at least 750,000 and at most 3,000,000 euros per project(consortium). The call aims to contribute to improved and more usable intelligence products that meet the needs of intelligence and security professionals during operational, tactical and strategic assignments.

Many data and intelligence challenges are related to the reliability of intelligence data gathering and sharing and the provision of optimal support for intelligence analyses and decision making. This requires a holistic approach and thus the input of technological, organisational, linguistic, legal, ethical and sociological perspectives and knowledge. Interdisciplinary collaboration, whereby scientists from all disciplines bring their knowledge together to further technological development, can strengthen the research generated by this call for proposals.

HSD Office facilitates and supports this in our role as chair of both the working group MMIP Data&Intelligence and, the working group Security, Peace and Justice in the NL AI Coalition. HSD aligns different stakeholders and facilitates on matchmaking and building consortia.

More information and the call can be found on the NWO website. The deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 22 April 2021, the deadline for submitting full proposals is 26 August 2021.

For more information about concrete matchmaking and consortia, please contact Marlou Snelders, Innovation Liaison HSD/secretary MMIP Data &Intelligence/NLAIC working group Security, Peace, Justice, marlou.snelders@thehaguesecuritydelta.com
