How do we close the cybersecurity skills gap — and what can we learn from each other across Europe? During a panel discussion at the ONE Conference, Evangelos Vangelis Ouzounis (ENISA), Mark Ruijsendaal (HSD), Tiina Pau (Estonian Information System Authority (NCSC-EE)) and Alexia Papadimitriou (DIGITALEUROPE) brought together perspectives from the European and Dutch cybersecurity landscape. The panel was led by Liesbeth Holterman (Cyberveilig Nederland) and brought together by Pritti Rana (NCC-NL).

ENISA shared insights on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF) and the broader European approach to cybersecurity skills.

Mark Ruijsendaal and Alexia Papadimitriou shared their experiences from specific projects, including how they have worked with the ECSF and the impact these initiatives are having across Europe. Based on the findings and insights from the Cadmus Project  and CyberHubs amongst others.

Tiina Pau From the NCSC Estland, shared work being done in Estland to strengthen cybersecurity skills and diversity, as well as the collaboration with other National Coordination Centres and the ECCC.

The combination of national and European perspectives will help us look at the bigger picture: where are we today, what is changing, and what can we learn from one another.

Discussed topics were, among other things:

- The cybersecurity skills gap

- The impact of AI on cybersecurity skills and competencies

- Implementing change at a national and European level
