CW Greenport, GroentenFruit Huis and Greenports Nederland Launch Cyber Subscription for Vegetable and Fruit Chain
Today, during the Horticulture Congress in Venlo, the Vegetables & Fruit Cyber Subscription was officially launched by Robert Bakker (Specialist Data & Digitalisation at GroentenFruit Huis), Adri Bom-Lemstra (Chair of Greenports Nederland), and Anne Visser (Programme Manager Cyber Resilience Centre Greenport).
Adri Bom-Lemstra emphasised: “Digital security is an essential condition for entrepreneurs in the horticulture cluster. It is a subject that requires ongoing attention. That is why it is so valuable that the Cyber Resilience Centre Greenport, which originated in the region, is now being rolled out nationally and made concrete with the Vegetables & Fruit Cyber Subscription.”

Increasing Digitalisation Brings New Risks
The horticulture sector is rapidly digitalising. Smart sensors, climate control systems, IoT solutions, automated irrigation, data-driven cultivation, and robotics are making businesses increasingly efficient. However, this progress also introduces new risks, ranging from phishing and ransomware to data leaks and sabotage.
Cultivation environments are now vulnerable not only to physical failures (such as a broken pump), but also to digital attacks. A hack on a climate computer or fertilisation system can cause system failures, failed crops, financial loss, reputational damage, or even harm to produce.
What the Cyber Subscription Offers
The Vegetables & Fruit Cyber Subscription helps companies protect themselves against growing cyber threats. It helps them manage digital risks and minimise potential damage. The subscription is part of the recently launched Resistant Growers project, a sector-wide initiative aimed at creating a cyber-resilient and future-proof horticulture industry.
With the free subscription, companies across the fruit and vegetable chain gain access to:
• Cyber Updates – Eight times per year, companies receive thematic newsletters with practical information and advice from CW Greenport. Each edition highlights a current theme and offers concrete steps to strengthen digital security within the business.
• Practical Tools and Checklists – Directly applicable resources that help companies improve resilience and prevent cyber incidents.
• Threat Intelligence – Timely insights into digital risks and vulnerabilities specific to the fruit and vegetable sector, enabling proactive measures.
“Digitalisation offers the fruit and vegetable sector great opportunities, but it also brings new risks,” said Robert Bakker. “With this subscription, we make cybersecurity accessible and approachable for all companies in the chain.”
A Sector-Wide Step Forward
The launch of the Vegetables & Fruit Cyber Subscription marks an important step in strengthening the digital security of the entire supply chain. Businesses from growers and trading companies to packaging firms and logistics providers will benefit from knowledge sharing and collective protection against cyber threats.
“Cyber threats do not stop at the digital doorstep.” “Only by sharing information, collaborating, and exchanging knowledge can we strengthen the digital security of the whole chain. With the subscription, we remove barriers for entrepreneurs and give them the tools to take immediate action.” - Anne Visser
Registration
Companies can register from today via cwgreenport.nl/gfh-cyberabonnement. The Vegetables & Fruit Cyber Subscription is free of charge and available to all companies in the fruit and vegetable chain, from growers and traders to logistics service providers.
