Legian Collaborates with Podcast ‘All The Cyber Ladies’
On 1 October, HSD partner Legian announced a partnership with podcast 'All The Cyber Ladies' (ATCL). ATCL has been created by Lucinda Sterk. In these podcasts, she interviews women from the cybersecurity field with the aim to increase visibility of women in cybersecurity and to encourage more women to pursue careers in this specific field. Legian is a strong believer of the power of diversity and has therefore decided to collaborate with ATCL!
Women still underrepresented in the cybersecurity field
Research done by Equals has shown that only 14 percent of Dutch tech startups were founded by women. However, according to the 2022 Women in Cybersecurity Report, this percentage will increase and could rise to 30% by 2025 and even 35% by 2031. Furthermore, the cybersecurity field is currently dealing with a labor shortage and by recruiting more women into the field, two problems could be solved at the same time! The gender inequality gap will be reduced, and at the same time, the labor shortage will also decrease.
Diversity leads to innovation
Both Legian and ATCL believe that women can bring new and refreshing perspectives into the cybersecurity field.
Nandenie Moenielal, Lead Consultancy & Business Development at Legian: “We know that diversity in the workplace leads to positive outcomes, like innovation. Broader perspectives regarding the cybersecurity field can make a very positive contribution to current challenges, such as advanced cyber threats and cybercrime. Having more women with diverse backgrounds in the cyberworld is therefore more than just a noble aim.”
Lucinda Sterk, founder of ATCL, has the same perspective: “More women in cyber bring different, often refreshing perspectives. These perspectives contribute to stronger solutions against cyberattacks. And these are very much needed in 2024.”
