As part of our programme Cyber Kracht, we informed small businessowners on the topic of cybersecurity in Scheveningen last night during the network meeting 'Profitable entrepreneurship for self-employed professionals in The Hague'.

Cybercrime among SMEs

Because an increasingly digitising world not only offers opportunities but holds risks for entrepreneurs too. Hackers are shifting their attention to smaller companies. Anne Visser (Programme Coordinator Cyber Security and Resilience) spoke on this topic during a panel discussion. An important topic, increasingly for small businesses because hackers scour the internet to lure easy victims into phishing or malware traps and hacking into larger companies simply requires more effort. Nowadays approximately 75% of small and medium-sized businesses have experienced cybercrime, compared to 45% last year (ABN-AMRO).

Other events on cyber resilience for entrepreneurs

Noone can be fully safe and secure when it comes to cyber crime, but there are a few small steps self-employed professionals can take to increase the safety of your company. We aim to inform more small business owners in The Hague on this topic, therefore we will be attending and (co-)organizing a few other events in the city in the upcoming months:

  • June 23: Den Haag Inspireert!
  • July 4: MKB Think & Drink: Better Safe than Sorry
  • September 15: Cyber Kracht Food Tour
