Next year’s conference programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Europe (CIPRE) has been announced. The conference and exhibition will bring together leading stakeholders from industry, operators, agencies and governments to collaborate on securing Europe. It will take place on 4th & 5th March 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Den Haag Promenade in The Hague, Netherlands and is hosted by the Ministry of Security & Justice and supported by The Municipality of The Hague and The Hague Security Delta, as well as other key industry bodies.
The opening keynote presentations will be delivered by Mr Ivo Opstelten, Minister of Security & Justice, Netherlands and Mr. Fernando Sánchez, Director General, National Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CNPIC), Spain.
Programme
Convergence is one of the key issues at next year’s conference so the event will start with a combined plenary session ‘Bridging the communications gap and enhancing the integration, cooperation and security between CIP and CIIP operations’ before splitting into separate CIP and CIIP tracks.
This session examines how as more and more of vital CNI data is being held in cyberspace, opening it up to the threat of an attack that could delivery overwhelmingly disastrous consequences to CNI operations and the wider economy. The link of SCADA networks with IT networks allow better and faster communications, yet increase the threats and risks on SCADA communications. Discussed will be how communication and cooperation, good practice and guidelines can improve cyber security detection and response systems for CIP and CIIP?
Once the conference splits into tracks key discussions will revolve around transport, power and telecommunications which are crucial to the economic lifeblood of any modern industrial economy.
