Trends in Security Information
The HSD Trendmonitor is designed to provide access to relevant content on various subjects in the safety and security domain, to identify relevant developments and to connect knowledge and organisations. The safety and security domain encompasses a vast number of subjects. Four relevant taxonomies (type of threat or opportunity, victim, source of threat and domain of application) have been constructed in order to visualize all of these subjects. The taxonomies and related category descriptions have been carefully composed according to other taxonomies, European and international standards and our own expertise.
In order to identify safety and security related trends, relevant reports and HSD news articles are continuously scanned, analysed and classified by hand according to the four taxonomies. This results in a wide array of observations, which we call ‘Trend Snippets’. Multiple Trend Snippets combined can provide insights into safety and security trends. The size of the circles shows the relative weight of the topic, the filters can be used to further select the most relevant content for you. Quality of life and nuisance in residential areas in the Netherlands in 2021
There has been little change in social cohesion in the Netherlands since 2005. This snippet provides an overview of how residents rate the quality of life and nuisance in their neighborhoods.

Het rapportcijfer voor de leefbaarheid in de buurt bedraagt een 7,6.

Op de langere termijn, vanaf 2005, is de ervaren sociale cohesie in de buurt weinig veranderd. Op een schaal van 0 tot 10 scoort de sociale cohesie in de buurt in 2021 een 6,4. De sociale cohesie neemt toe van een 5,9 in zeer sterk stedelijke buurten tot een 7,2 in niet stedelijke buurten.

Minder dan de helft van de Nederlanders (44 procent) is (zeer) tevreden over het functioneren van de eigen gemeente als het gaat om de aanpak van de leefbaarheid en veiligheid in de buurt. Dit tevredenheidspercentage verschilt niet tussen stad en platteland.

Ongeveer 3 op de 10 zeggen dat gemeentelijke handhavers (vaak of soms) zichtbaar zijn in de buurt. Een kwart is (zeer) tevreden over het functioneren van de handhavers in de eigen gemeente. De meesten zijn tevreden noch ontevreden. Zowel de zichtbaarheid als de tevredenheid daarover is in meer verstedelijkte buurten groter dan in minder verstedelijkte buurten.

1 op de 10 Nederlanders geeft aan veel milieuoverlast te ervaren. Ook 1 op de 10 ervaart veel sociale overlast. 2 op de 10 ervaren veel fysieke verloedering, en 3 op de 10 veel verkeersoverlast in hun buurt.

In totaal zegt bijna de helft van de Nederlanders (46 procent) veel overlast in de buurt te ervaren. Bijna 9 op de 10 geven aan veel overlast of een beetje overlast in de buurt te ervaren.
