Asser Instituut

Internationally renowned research institute in the fields of international law and European law based in The Hague. One of the research focus areas of the institute is the development of the international regulatory framework for the military applications of disruptive technologies and the arms race in conventional and non-conventional weapons. 

Counter-terrorism research is another focus area, in particular the legal aspects of surveillance tools and resulting digitalisation of individual identities. The T.M.C. Asser Instituut is also the legal representative and hosting organization of the Global Counterterrorism Forum’s (GCTF) Administrative Unit, that facilitates mobilizing expertise and resources to effectively prevent, combat, and prosecute terrorist acts and counter incitement and recruitment to terrorism.
