The Hague's New Coalition Agreement Emphasises Its Position International City of Peace, Justice and Security
The Hague has unveiled its new 2026–2030 coalition agreement "Voor Den Haag, met Den Haag", setting out an ambitious vision for the city's future. One of the priorities within the agreement is the further strengthening of The Hague's position as the international cyber capital. By investing in cybersecurity, defence technology, security innovation and international collaboration, the city aims to build on its globally recognised cybersecurity ecosystem.
Security remains a cornerstone of The Hague's international identity. As digital threats continue to evolve, the city is making significant investments in cybersecurity, defence technology and security innovation. The coalition agreement underlines the strategic importance of cyber resilience and innovation for both The Hague and the Netherlands.
Coalition: "We aim to play a leading role as an international cyber capital through the further expansion of The Hague Security Delta, the 'House of Cyber' located at the Aegonplein, the development of an international cyber campus and close cooperation between the government, knowledge institutions, international organisations and the business community."
Funding
The financial section of the agreement shows that investments are being made using additional structural funding for The Hague’s economic programme and an occasional funding for investment in het House of Cyber.
Strengthening The Hague's international position
The Hague’s international profile is a key driver of economic development. International organisations, businesses and knowledge institutions contribute to the city’s global reputation while creating opportunities for employment, investment and innovation across the Netherlands. In close cooperation with the Dutch government, The Hague remains committed to attracting organisations and companies that align with its unique profile as the international city of peace, justice and security.
Beyond its national borders, the city actively strengthens its international network through trade and investment activities, city promotion and targeted engagement with organisations and businesses worldwide. These efforts support international cooperation and are closely aligned with national policies on international trade. Through diplomatic and economic networking events, the city continues to bring together embassies, companies and knowledge institutions to foster new connections and collaborations.
The Hague also continues to attract leading international conferences and events that fit naturally with the city’s profile. These gatherings not only reinforce The Hague’s position as a global hub for peace, justice and security, but also contribute directly to economic growth by creating opportunities for businesses, professionals and knowledge communities.
