Earlier this month, cyber professionals from around the world gathered at the Willem Lodewijk van Nassaukazerne in Zoutkamp for CAX CyberNet 2025, a two-week cyber exercise organised by the Defence Cyber Command (DCC). The event challenged teams to defend their networks while simultaneously conducting offensive cyber operations in a realistic and high-pressure environment.

Advanced Cyber Techniques

Throughout the exercise, participants used advanced methods such as reverse engineering, memory corruption, and other techniques to analyse vulnerabilities, detect intrusions, and carry out controlled attacks. The scenarios were designed to test not only technical expertise but also teamwork, strategic thinking, and stress resilience.

International Participation

The first week of CyberNet 2025 focused on the international competition. Teams from South Korea, Japan, Norway, Poland, Germany, the PESCO cooperation group, and Belgium took part. South Korea secured first place in this round.

National Competition

In the second week, Dutch organisations competed against one another. Participants included the Defence Cyber Security Centre, National Cyber Security Centre, the National Police (two teams), the Joint SIGINT Cyber Unit, the Defence Cyber Command, and KPN.

KPN Takes First Place

KPN won the national competition, demonstrating strong cyber capabilities and teamwork. Team DIGIT from the National Police finished in second place, followed by the Joint SIGINT Cyber Unit in third.
