Use of AI for cyberattacks is becoming more powerful at an astonishing rate. Europe is ill-prepared for dealing with this threat. In an open letter, leading European researchers are calling for a European-scale "Grand Challenge": a competition aimed at stimulating knowledge building, where teams from academia and industry examine the (future) offensive capabilities of AI and build not just advanced defensive cyber reasoning platforms, but especially the expertise required to defend Europe in the future.

The European AI Cyber Security Grand Challenge (AIxCC) is the initiator of this call. This group consists of distinguished professors and researchers from universities across the Netherlands, who are actively contributing to the growing European call for action in this domain. Security Delta (HSD) fully supports this initiative, has already signed the open letter, and is now helping to further disseminate it in order to generate even broader support across academia, industry, and government.

The initiative is also supported by the Cyber Security Raad and is currently being circulated across several EU countries to gather support. The letter is also supported by hundreds of researchers at European universities, in addition to people in industry, and others, all citizens who are concerned about the lack of urgency in Europe in this domain.

Kindly take the time to review the letter and, should you be in agreement, add your name to the list.
