New National Cyber Security Strategy

On 28 October, at the start of the Alert Online campaign, the Minister of Security and Justice presented the new national cyber security strategy. In the coming years, The Netherlands will continue to deploy, combine and strengthen the expertise of public and private parties involved, both nationally and internationally. Minister of Security & Justice Ivo Opstelten: “With this strategy, The Netherlands will remain leading in the field of cyber security. We do not start from scratch. The Netherlands has a strong cyber infrastructure and counts many internet pioneers and innovative ICT entrepreneurs who operate worldwide. The Netherlands has also a proven talent for building coalitions, not only nationally, but also in the field of international peace and security."

 

Cyber security is being approached in conjunction with human rights, internet freedom, privacy, social development and innovation. Approximately 130 public and private organizations, academic institutions and social organizations were involved in the development of the new cyber security strategy. Also, the Cyber ​​Security Council and the wider ICT community were consulted.

Special guest speakers from Radboud University, ministry of Defence, NCSC, SIDN, ENCS, BT and the National Police will give several lectures focused on the public sector and critical sectors to together invest in a secure digital Netherlands.
