The Hague has a new board of mayor and aldermen, formed by D66, VVD, GL, PvdA and CDA. Today they presented the coalition agreement 2022-2026. The Hague is investing in 'a city that can roll with the punches. A number of these plans are to better the resilience of the municipality, both socially and digitally with a sound financial base, and to invest more in clean, liveable and safe neighbourhoods, with attention to sustainability and special attention for the people in the Hague that need it.

The agreement states that "while a lock on the front door is seen as a normal thing, digital security is not as developed. The digital security of the city is a growing challenge. Cybercrime and digital crime are on the rise, bringing with it large risks for societal disruption. We need a locally fitting system for digital security like there already is for physical security. That is why we are starting with the execution of the Digitally Safe The Hague agenda, with support of the national government. We are working to improve digital security of our own organisation, cybercrisis management, the formation of a risk profile for the Hague, as well as the digital resilience of our citizens and businesses. The project 'Digitally Safe in the Neighbourhood' will be continued. Naturally we are collaborating with relevant partners whereever possible. We are investing €1 million in this period to increase digital security of our citizens and entrepeneurs through resilience."

The agreement also states: "The Hague will maintain the image of International City of Peace and Law, where a safer and more just world is being created. Our ambition is to bring businesses, institutions and congresses that fit this profile to the city. We will take great care to maintain our second position in the Netherlands as most attractive city for (impact) startups, and our cybersecurity cluster. Securing our data and systems is after all a worldwide challenge, and fits perfectly within our international profile."

The new board wants to realise their plans and ambitions by collaborating with anyone who is fond of the city. With municipalities, provinces and the region, with the national government, and with organisations with ties to citizens, businesses and educational institutions. Security Delta (HSD) - the national security cluster with a core at the HSD Campus in the Hague - looks forward to collaborating on this.

Together we secure the future.

Together we secure the future.
