Does your company have the potential to support the Maritime domain by providing innovative solutions in the fields of Maritime Safety, Cyber Security and Efficiency? Join the open innovation initiative of Airbus.

As maritime security supplier, Airbus established the Airbus 4SEA2015 programme. This programme is an open innovation initiative that intends to develop future maritime solutions for upcoming challenges of the maritime industry; be it for ports, shipping lines, offshore industry and governmental agencies. Airbus has a global maritime footprint through its extensive ground, coastal and satellite surveillance capability. This is complemented by an extended range of products and expertise covering Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Cyber Security, Environmental Monitoring and Artificial Intelligence.

Airbus is looking for start-ups and innovative SMEs with outstanding solutions that will help them shape the 4SEA2025 programme at the Airbus Maritime Innovation Forum 2020. Both, technical innovations and new business models that improve customer value and solves maritime customer pain points are welcomed and invited to participate.

The selection criteria for the challenge is focusing on the three following areas (but not exclusively):

  • Automation: Airbus is interested in holistic approaches to further improve global maritime safety as they do in aerospace. They are looking especially for solutions that facilitate automation of ship operations that can help reduce the impact of human error in the industry.
  • Maritime and Cyber Security: They are on the lookout for new concepts and ideas that further strengthen their maritime security product portfolio.
Areas of particular interest include solutions based on artificial intelligence as well as sensors with increased range and coverage. Furthermore they are interested in working with partners that have already a footprint onboard ships networks (for IT/OT/IoT/IIoT).
  • Shipping Efficiency: They are seeking innovations that support the reduction of operating cost – particularly focusing on the optimization of fuel consumption, improvements around weather routing and end-to-end efficiency for port management – in order to support global world trade in a sustainable way.
