On 29 January2015 an animated afternoon focusing on urban security took place at the HSD Campus. Around 60 participants took part in workshops on event security and public order management, area and building protection, intrusion prevention and supervision, radicalization, community policing, and the resilient city / region. Knowledge was shared between participants, and insights as well as several options for follow-up activities, which will be actively supported by the participants, were discussed. The basis for cooperation was established and will undoubtedly lead to new initiatives. Also, connections were established with the National Innovation Agenda for Security, which can act as a catalyst. If you have (further) questions about urban security and its connection to the National Innovation Agenda Security 2015, please contact Marcel van Berlo via Marcel.vanBerlo@tno.nl or Peter Elias via Peter.Elias@thehaguesecuritydelta.com.

A Dutch report of the meeting can be found here.

Media attention
Marcel van Berlo was also recently interviewed by Security Management magazine about several HSD Urban Security focal points: public order management, smart city, Urban Search and Rescue, and Radicalision and Resilience. Van Berlo emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the triple helix to let innovations survive the try-out phase. This creates both societal (a more secure society) and economical (more business) gains. The full interview (in Dutch) can be found in the March 2015 edition of Security Management.
