We warmly invite you to attend our upcoming HSD Café on November 26th on Secure Information Sharing. This HSD Café will have a slightly different set-up, as it will be a part of the Cyber Security Workshop, hosted by 3TU. More information on this workshop can be found here.

Modern society is increasingly dependent on massive amounts of electronic information. There are numerous everyday scenarios where sensitive data must be -- sometimes reluctantly or suspiciously -- shared between two or more entities with limited mutual trust. This prompts the need for mechanisms to enable limited (privacy-preserving) sharing of information. We face three main technical challenges: (1) how to enable this type of sharing such that only the required minimum amount of information is disclosed, (2) how to do so efficiently, and (3) how to deploy these techniques on real-world applications. We take on such challenges by adopting novel building blocks and deploying practical systems to both established and emerging applications, including database screening, genetic testing, social networking, and threat mitigation. In the process, we identify and address a number of open problems as well as items for future work.

As the event will be part of the Cyber Security Workshop, the format is slightly altered. The HSD Café is set up as follows:

- Dr. Dr. Emiliano de Cristofaro (University College London) will give a presentation in connection with the Cyber Security Workshop. He will discuss the three technical challenges, also mentioned earlier: (1) how to enable this type of sharing such that only the required minimum amount of information is disclosed, (2) how to do so efficiently, and (3) how to deploy these techniques on real-world applications.

- Following his presentation, the audience will get the chance to engage in discussion.

- From 17.00 onwards the bar is open for drinks and there will be ample opportunity to network.

About the HSD Café
The HSD Cafés are organized for HSD partners on every first and third Thursday of each month (except on public holidays). From cyber to critical infrastructure, 20 sessions will be organized around security topics relevant for companies, the government, and knowledge organizations. In the first hour (16.00-17.00) of each HSD Café, an expert will briefly present a security topic, dilemma, or innovation, followed by an informal discussion. The second part of the HSD Café (17.00-17.45) will consist of drinks and a possibility to network.

The HSD Cafés provide an excellent opportunity to meet (potential) business partners, bring along your contacts, expand your knowledge, and shape the debate on key security issues of the future. Tell us what you think. Let your voice count, expand your network, and join the debate.
