Opening European Cybercrime Centre (EC3)

Mr. van Aartsen spoke about the importance of cyber security at the opening ceremony of the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) as he raised the issue of personnel shortage in the security industry due to the growing demand for cyber security solutions, systems and products. One of Mr. van Aartsen's key remarks was regarding the lack of skilled professionals whom genuinely comprehend what is going on in cyber crime and how this phenomenon can be tackled by means of cyber security. To ensure the education and supply of professional security specialists in the job market, the City of The Hague in collaboration with Europol and other HSD partners, are to create the first Cyber Security Academy in The Hague Security Delta.

 

Mr. van Aartsen reminded the audience that The Hague is the international city of peace and justice, and a distinct European city. He confirmed the ambition of turning The Hague region, better knows as The Hague Security Delta, into the biggest security cluster in Europe.
