"The Cybercrime Centre will give a strong boost to the EU's capacity to fight cybercrime and defend an internet that is free, open and secure”. – EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström.

The Hague Security Delta has reached another important milestone! Europe’s most innovative and modern Cybercrime Centre is established in The Hague to ensure the protection and safety of European citizens and the business community from cyber-crime. The Centre is established at the European Police Office (Europol) in The Hague, The Netherlands. EC3 is designed to deliver its knowledge in a more forward-thinking and inclusive way whereby it will pool expertise and intelligence, support criminal investigations and promote EU-wide solutions. The EC3’s activities will be crucial to the world economy since it is estimated that victims lose around €290 billion each year worldwide as cybercriminal activities.
