Ireland’s Growing Cybersecurity Market Offers Opportunities for Dutch Companies
Ireland may not be the first country that comes to mind when thinking about cybersecurity, but the Irish cybersecurity market is developing rapidly and presents interesting opportunities for Dutch companies. With 578 cybersecurity companies and more than 8,000 professionals, Ireland has a concentrated and accessible cybersecurity ecosystem that is strongly influenced by European legislation.
Regulations such as NIS2, DORA and the EU AI Act are creating increasing demand for cybersecurity services and expertise. At the same time, the Irish government is investing heavily in the sector, with the ambition to double both employment and turnover in cybersecurity by 2030. This underlines the strategic importance of cybersecurity to Ireland and the continued growth potential of the market.
Opportunities for Dutch cybersecurity companies
The rapid developments in the Irish cybersecurity market are creating a range of business opportunities for Dutch companies. The greatest potential can be found in several niche areas:
- Operational Technology (OT) security is still relatively underdeveloped in Ireland, while many organisations are looking for additional expertise. This includes areas such as industrial systems, medical equipment and critical infrastructure. Dutch companies with experience in OT security can contribute to further developing capabilities in these sectors.
- Implementing new regulations offers significant opportunities. Medium-sized companies are increasingly required to comply with new legislation but often lack the necessary knowledge and expertise. They are looking for practical support in establishing effective security processes and risk management frameworks.
- Cloud governance and AI security are developing rapidly. Many organisations rely on cloud services, but their security measures still have room for improvement. The new European legislation on AI, the EU AI Act, is also creating demand for specialist knowledge and expertise.
